post that you summarized this week. Read and take notes. (The other blog post
does not have to be one of your classmates’.) On your own blog, compare and
contrast the opinions of the two bloggers.
According to her, listening to the advice of family or friends is wiser way to learn about life because it can gives you better answer, since the adviser has already experienced the situation where you are put into, and you don't have to take risk to experience it yourself.
However, he disagree with her. He thinks the advice of others give you indirect and incomplete understanding about the situation. In this sense, he prefer to have firsthand experience, which is worthy taking risk

He said that learning about life by listening to the advice of family or friends can give you helpful answer without taking risk, but it gives you at the same time indirect information. In this sense, he think that having personal experience is better way to learn about life because it gives you more direct and correct understanding. I agree with him.

Optional extra credit: Answer the following question with a 200-300 word essay
on your blog.
What
do you want most in a friend: someone who is intelligent, someone who has a
sense of humor, or someone who is reliable? Which one of these characteristics
is most important to you? Use reasons and specific examples to explain your
choice.
Intelligence
and a sense of humor are important things in making friends but I think that reliability
is the most important characteristic to me because I believe that relationship
is built on reliability.
When I
was in a high school, back then I had different type of friends. One of them
was a really funny man. He was like a comedian to us. When we hang out together,
we laughed all the time. We never got bored. However, he was not faithful and does
not know what a friendship is. When I needed support from him as a friend
because of some serious problems, he ran away, though he was responsible for
it.
A friendship
does not just mean enjoyment. A true friendship, being involved in a
relationship with someone, means taking responsibility for your friend. The
responsibility in a relationship basically means reliability which includes
honesty, sincerity, faith, support and encouragement. If it is a true friendship,
you can share personal stuff, and to do so, it requires fundamental trust that
he would stand on your side no matter what happens. In this sense, I believe
that reliability is more important than intelligence and sense of humor in
making friends.
2. On
the blog, answer the following question in a 200-300 word essay:
Some
people believe that the best way of learning about life is by listening to the
advice of family or friends. Other people believe that the best way of learning
about life is through personal experience. Compare the advantages and
disadvantages of these two different ways of learning about life. Which do you
think is preferable? Use specific examples to support your preference.
Some people think that the best way of learning about
life is by listening to the advice of family or friends because they think that
family or friends can look though the situations objectively where you are put
into and give you a wiser advice than what you can come up with, since you are
the subject in the circumstance. However, I can not agree with the idea. Human
acts by what they believe true. No matter what is objectively right or wrong, and
good or bad, people follow by their believe system. It is not about right or
wrong but what they accept true and think worth to believe because it is them
not someone else who pay the price and take the risk. It has nothing to do with
someone’s opinion, even when they accept other’s advice, they do so because
they think it is believable and worthy. In this sense, I think that the best
way of learning life is through your own personal experience because the experience
is not from others but your life, and you earn it by paying the price though
your life, whatever the price is, so it is very believable and worthy following
by to you whether it is good. The experience obtained through your life is an alive
advice unlike others.

D. Optional extra credit 1: Write an extra blog post. Tell about something you did this week
I hung out with my friend from church last weekend. We couldn't go out far since i was on my final, so we went to 이수. She came all the way here. Hanging out with her wasn't awkward or weird but fun, though it was first time to hang out with her outside alone. It was more like two close friends hanging out together after a long time. We really got closer in very short time.
We went to play batting after dinner. There were a few people. I thought her how to swing a bat. She got scared of it at first but later enjoyed. After that, we walked around for a while and went to a cafe. We sat on the second floor where it had a huge window, so we could watch people walking around the street.

Beautiful Mind
I love watching movies because it is the
best way to get rid of stress to me, so when I feel depressed and stressed, I
normally watch movies. When I watch movies, I feel like I am in totally
different world where time even doesn’t pass. I can fully fall into movies and
enjoy what a specific atmosphere the movie makes without worries about the
reality.
A couple of years ago, I saw Beautiful Mind
and it became one of my favorites since the time. This movie is about a genius mathematician
who has schizophrenia. He went to Princeton University. He was genius and
unsociable like usually the genius are unsociable. While attending Princeton
University, he started seeing ghosts but he didn’t think they were ghosts but
real. One of them was his roommate though he didn’t have anyone. Other was the
roommate’s niece. Around that time he met a beautiful girl at a bar though he
was unsociable. Both got attracted to each other and got married. After
graduation, he worked in national institute and saw another ghost, a Government
agent who constantly gave him secret missions, which is decodement. He got so obsessed
with code breaking that it caused many troubles. He went to doctor and started
to have medicine but the medicine brought him other problems. The whole
schizophrenia things drove them into very hard time but eventually they got
through it. Thanks to his wife’s love, he decided to just ignore the ghosts
without medicine. After long time, he won Nobel Prize. He said to his wife, “I’m
only here tonight because of you. You are the reason I am”

and Korean traditional values. The first wave was driven by Korean TV dramas
within Asian continent and the new wave which refers to K-POP lead the Korean
wave beyond Asia, reaching all over the world with the development of Information

2. On the blog. How could Chongshin
University or the students be kinder to the environment? Write a report with
your ideas. If you do research, quote with quotation marks or paraphrase your
source. Tell where the information comes from and provide a link back to the
original source.
REPORT ON THE ADITTUDE OF CHONGSHIN
UNIVERSITY STUDENTS ABOUT ENVIRONMENT
INTRODUCTION
In recent years, as our country’s economy
has rapidly grown, the environment has been destroyed because we have failed to
protect the environment and always put interests before the environment.
CURRENT PROBLEMS IN CHONGSHIN UNIVERSITY
1. Too much food garbage.
As the restaurant in the school does not
provide students good food, many students left much of theirs share of food and
throw it away.
2. Not enough effort to separate garbage
There are not enough amount of recycling
bin in the school.
SOLUTION TO FOOD GARBAGE
1. Appropriated budget of the restaurant in
the school will make it possible to serve students better food and it will be
led to less good garbage.
2. If the restaurant let students
distribute food themselves, food garbage will decrease.
SOLUTION TO RECYCLING BIN
1. It will be helpful to reduce garbage
that we set more recycling bins in the school.
CONCLUSION
It is considered that the main environmental
problems in Chongshin University is food garbage. If we reduce the amount of
the food garbage in this school, it will be very helpful to protect the
environment.

4. Optional extra credit: On your blog,
write 200+ words about one of your other classes. What is the most interesting
thing you have learned in that class this semester?
Since I am majoring in theology, I am
taking a class related to systematic theology in which the most I am interested
out of many other specialties. It is about Protestant’s doctrine. There are
many different type of categories in the field. It goes first about God.
Specifically, it is about the unique properties of God. One of the most
important things about God is the Trinity doctrine. It is very important
because mostly heresy has a wrong knowledge about the Trinity doctrine. If you
have a wrong understand about it, it drag Jesus down to the ground and it will
give you the wrong idea of what Christian salvation is. Basically, the
knowledge of the Trinity is related to salvation.
Before I explain about the Trinity, we all should
know that it is totally impossible to understand the Trinity entirely, further
partly, because it is a mysterious knowledge that belongs to God. Although, we
can entirely understand it, but we must know what it is at least if we are Christians.
God has three unique hypostasis. Each hypostasis is
distinguished but not segregated. Each hypostasis has the same essence. I know
that it is difficult to understand and there are not enough explanations, as I wrote
it in English, but this is it. There can be more explanations because we can’t
in human languages.
3. On the blog Write a review of the
lecture. Who was the speaker? What were the speaker’s main points? Would you recommend
the lecture to another student? Why or why not? Include a link to the video.
A fat and old man starts to give us a
lecture about how to tie shoes. He begins the lecture with his own experience.
He bought nice shoes. Those shoes came with round nylon laces and he couldn’t
keep them tied, though he had a confidence in tying. So, he went back to the
store and said to the owner, “I love this shoes, but I hate the laces”. He took
a look and said, “you are tying them wrong”. After this story, he tells the
audience the usual way people tie is wrong and weak and teach how to tie
strong, which is tying the knot by going the other direction around the loop.
He concludes that sometimes a small
advantage someplace in life can yield tremendous results someplace else, from
the lecture.

4. Optional extra credit: Write a 200+ word
“how to” essay about one of the following:
A.
How to study English
First, check if you have strong motivation
for studying English. It’s always the most important one whatever you do that
usually people overlook easily.
Second, make a goal in studying English.
There are many other ways to study English. The reason you study English can be
that you need a high score in one of English test required from school or you
want to speak English fluently in order to talk with and make foreign friends. Therefore,
make sure what you need to do.
Third, memorize as many English words as
you can because whatever goal it is, it require you to know words but look up
the word in English dictionary and find out in what exact situation it is used
and how exactly it’s pronounced.
Fourth, read books written in English. It’s
a good way to improve both your reading skill, which is based on all the other
skills in English, and speaking skill because it will make you more used to the
grammatical order in English, which is totally different from Korean.
Fifth, listen to a conversation recorded by
foreigners. The more you spend time on listening, the more you will understand.
One thing you should know about this section, there is no fast way to improve
your listening skill. Practice it every day. Be steady.
3. On the blog. Write a review of the how
to video. Write your opinion of the quality of the video and list the main
steps. Include a link to the video.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OH9z7eTfEvo
It’s a good video to learn how to swim for
beginners, since basic steps to swim are well organized and explained. As it’s a
quite short video, it won’t be hard to follow the instruction. However, it doesn’t
include full detail of the move of stroke, as it’s just for beginner. For that
reason, I added some detail in the assignment that the video doesn’t include.

extra credit on the blog: What is your dream job? Write at least 200 words in
which you explain the job and why you are interested in it.
I love
watching movies. I don’t
know since when I like it, but I still remember that I got very excited every
Saturday night because there were movies on TV. Although I was just a little
kid who didn’t know what a movie is like and what the
actors were doing in the movie, but I just enjoyed the movie and the acting. I
don’t know whether it had an effect on me to watch movies, I think I was talented
in acting when I young. Sometimes I acted as if I
had been sad or angry while hanging around with friends. All my friends didn’t figure
out if it was playing. I used to imagine myself acting in hypothetical situation
for fun, while laying down on the bed to go to sleep. Back then, it was really
fun watch their puzzled face, and that nobody could figure out if I was acting,
as it seemed quite real. I really enjoyed making fake feelings and imagining
putting myself into some hypothetical situations. I was a curious boy. I wondered
about the feelings I’ve never felt before. I used to spend time on imagining the
feelings and situations as if it was from a movie. Even though I’m a grown up, I
imagine it would be fun if I became an actor. I think I would try if I had good
looks like actors.

3. On
the blog (optional extra credit): Write about someone you admire. Tell why you
admire them
It’s Jonathan Edwards that I admire most. At
first, I didn’t know much about him until I started reading books about him. Since
I started reading those books, I got shocked by his passionate life in faith.
He is one of the greatest believers with
John Calvin and Augustine in Christian history. Some people say that Calvin and
Augustine have a great effect on Christian history, specifically in Protestant
history, though Jonathan Edwards is the greatest one. Each of these great
theologians have a feature in their theology. Firstly, Augustine had a broad knowledge
of the world, and it is well shown through his works. Secondly, the feature of
John Calvin is conciseness in his work. The essence of his conciseness is well
shown in the book that he compiled the whole Christian doctrines into it. Lastly,
though they were great theologian without dispute, Jonathan Edwards had
something different form them, which is one of the reasons some people estimate
him superior to the others in some way. It is the depth of his theology. His
work is full of profound insight.
Another reason that I admire him is that he
was a person who never let himself lazy and satisfied but tried to live a life
rightly in God. In his mind, there was nothing but Jesus. He didn’t want to
feel or have anything if it’s against getting to know God and growing his faith
in Jesus. He made decisions everyday to live more like Jesus and estimate his
life himself if the decisions were retained.
I’ve never imagined if there has been a
person like him who struggled incredibly hard to live after Jesus. I hope
someday God made me as passionate as he was in faith like he did to him.

B.Optional extra credit: Write an extra blog post. Tell about something interesting that you learned about in chapel or one of your other classes.
I took a
class named ‘understanding of God and human’. It was about Christian doctrines.
I’ve learned many things from the class. The most impressive one among them
that I’ve learned was about the providence of God. What it’s said about the
providence of God was beyond what I thought it would be. God not only created
universe but manage it himself. It said that God manage everything on earth.
Nothing can happen without his permission. Anything can happen, if he wants.
Even a leaf can’t fall off without his will. A drop of water can’t fall down on
the ground against him. The same thing applies to human. He discerns our going
out and our lying down, and is familiar with all our ways. He perceives our
thoughts from afar. Before a word is on our tongue he knows it completely. So,
there is no such thing as a coincidence because everything is under his
control, even Satan.
A. Write a travelblog (200-300 words) about a place that you have gone. (The place could be somewhere around Chongshin University if you prefer.) Include photos if you can.
I’ve gone to JeJu island a couple of years ago, which is located at the bottom of Korea. It’s one of the most beautiful tour spots in Korean. As it was busy season when I went to JeJu island, it was expensive at almost twice the price than usual. So, if you are planning to go to JeJu island, I recommend that you avoid peak season.
I stayed there for 2 days. On the first day, I rented a car and drove along the seashore. It was amazing to drive, listening to music, along the seashore in a lovely sunny day. I visited 천지연 water fall. It consists of three different water fall. Although the first one was the smallest among them, it was the most beautiful one. The water fall was surrounded by columnar joint and the color of the lake was emerald green, which was incredibly beautiful.
On the second day, I went to Seongsan Ilchulbong, which was an amazingly beautiful small mountain that has wide plain and is surrounded by sea. Though I haven’t gone to many places, it was the most beautiful spectacle. My first view of the scene took my breath away. I was totally overwhelmed by the solemn scene.
If there is only one place I can visit again, it’s the one without hesitating. I hope you visit there once someday.

Web address: http://www.camelsandchocolate.com
Author: Her name is Kristin Luna. She’s a travel writer by profession
Place that the writer describes: Though here are many places she’s been to but I’d like to go with NYC
Did the blogger have a good time? Why or why not?
She went to NYC this time. She traveled light without laptop, photography gear. She described the first morning she had in the trip like this, “It’s hard waking up on a sunny day in New York, with the Hudson River stretched out before you, and think of anywhere else you’d rather be at the moment.” and she sent Washington Square Park. she said the weather seemed to be smiling.
Write 3 interesting or useful phrases that you found:
1. a jacket and scarf were both necessities
It’s quite a bit awkward expression to me as it finish the sentence with a noun which is totally different from korean.
2. keep it a secret
3. take the view from up here anytime
D. Optional extra credit 2: Write about a club or church group you are involved in. What does the club do? Why did you join?
Although I don’t belong to any clubs or groups now but I was in a group that helps people settle in a church. We welcome them and help them not feel left out in the church. Most importantly we studied bible together to help them to receive the gospel. We had them in the group for at least 4weeks until they were ready to get into other bible groups. It was meaningful to help people who first came to the church and a pleasure to meet new people. I think it is always exciting to meet someone that you haven’t met.

C. Optional extra credit 1: send an English thank you e-mail to someone
Dear Wu Chan.
Dear Wu Chan.
I’m writing to you to say thanks for what
you’ve done for me. When I met you and Joy last year, I was still in a confused
state of mind because of all the things that hadn’t been solved, though I entered
university. Before then, I didn’t have anyone that I could seriously talk about
the problems that I had in faith. I didn’t know what to do and how to deal with
it. I felt like I fell into a big hole alone where there was no light, hope and
help. I was struggling all by myself. But since I met you I don’t feel alone
anymore as I can share how I feel and what I think in faith, although I’m still
struggling and confused by the unsolved problems.
I’m always encouraged by you. You do your
best whatever you do. You don’t waste time doing something worthless like everybody
else but always try to do what you must do. Sometimes I feel depressed and emotionally
exhausted. But when I see you live life to the full, I got encouraged by your
attitude to life.
You are a brother in faith. I thank God
that I met you.
Best wishes

I saw your advertisement in a magazine.
There are some other place that we have seen already but I am very interested in your place.
I plan to go there with my wife in late march and stay over a week but I am not sure how long we will stay yet.
There are a few questions that I would like to ask before making a booking .
Do you have an Internet network? I need it because I have to check my email.
You said that breakfast is served. Is it included in the cost of staying a night or It require additional cost?
I have noticed that there is a mountain near the house. Since we love hiking, we would like to climb the mountain, if it is not too high. Could you give us more information about the mountain. Is there any great tour spots near the house? We would like to visit some of the beautiful places nearby.
As it seems that we will have tenth wedding anniversary there, we would like spend a great time. Can you recommend us a nice restaurant?
For the last time, can you give me a discount if we stay there over a week?
I look forward to a reply.
Best wishes
